Importing from QuickBooks

Moving from QuickBooks Online? The import wizard brings your customers, suppliers, products, invoices, estimates, bills, purchase orders, expenses and payments into dynamik.app in one pass. It is one-way — nothing you do here is sent back to QuickBooks.

Running the Import

Once connected the card shows Import Data. The wizard has four steps:

1. Historical data — how far back to go: this calendar year, the last two years, the last six years (recommended, and what HMRC expects you to keep) or everything. Tax rates, products, services, clients and suppliers are always imported in full; the range applies to invoices, estimates, bills, purchase orders, expenses and payments
2. Preview — a count of what was found for each of the eleven kinds of record
3. Importing — one row per kind, with imported, skipped and failed counts as it goes. It runs in your browser; leave the page open
4. Complete — the totals, and buttons to the Apps page or your invoices

What Comes Across

Invoice lines come across as plain lines, not linked to your products and services. Imported documents get your numbering; the QuickBooks number is kept in the document's notes as Imported from QuickBooks: #…. Imported invoices land on the Imported status, and their journal entries are created as they come in.

Running It Again

Every imported record remembers its QuickBooks ID. Running the wizard again skips anything already imported and brings in only what is new in QuickBooks, so a second run is safe and never duplicates. Two consequences:

• A record edited in QuickBooks after the import is not updated here, and your edits here are never overwritten
• Clients or invoices you typed in by hand before connecting have no QuickBooks ID, so the same record in QuickBooks will be imported as a second copy — import first, then tidy up

Disconnecting

Disconnect on the card revokes dynamik.app's access at Intuit. Everything already imported stays, and the IDs are kept, so reconnecting later still skips what you already have.
