# Income Tax Self Assessment (ITSA) Making Tax Digital for Income Tax Self Assessment (MTD for ITSA) requires self-employed individuals and landlords to submit quarterly updates to HMRC digitally. ## Who Needs MTD for ITSA? From April 2026, MTD for ITSA applies to self-employed individuals and landlords with a gross income above the threshold set by HMRC. ## Connecting to HMRC 1. Go to **HMRC > Settings** 2. Click **Connect to HMRC** 3. Sign in with your HMRC Government Gateway credentials 4. Authorise dynamik.app to submit on your behalf ## Quarterly Updates You must submit quarterly summaries of your income and expenses: | Quarter | Period | Deadline | |---------|--------|----------| | Q1 | 6 April - 5 July | 5 August | | Q2 | 6 July - 5 October | 5 November | | Q3 | 6 October - 5 January | 5 February | | Q4 | 6 January - 5 April | 5 May | ## Submitting a Quarterly Update 1. Navigate to **HMRC > Income Tax** 2. Select the obligation period 3. Review the auto-calculated income and expense totals 4. Click **Submit to HMRC** 5. You will receive a confirmation with a receipt ID ## Business IDs If you have multiple income sources (e.g. self-employment and property), each has its own HMRC Business ID. Manage these in **HMRC > Income Tax > Business IDs**. ## End of Period Statement After all four quarterly updates, you submit an End of Period Statement to finalise your annual figures. ## Final Declaration The Final Declaration replaces the traditional Self Assessment tax return. This confirms your total taxable income for the year.
