Using Multi-Currency

dynamik.app supports over 150 currencies, allowing you to invoice clients and record expenses in their local currency.

Setting Your Base Currency

Your base currency (typically GBP) is set during company setup. All reports are presented in your base currency.

Creating a Foreign Currency Invoice

  1. Create a new invoice as normal
  2. Change the Currency dropdown to your client's currency (e.g. EUR, USD)
  3. Enter amounts in the foreign currency
  4. The exchange rate is fetched automatically
  5. You can override the rate manually if needed

Exchange Rates

Exchange rates are updated automatically. When you create a document in a foreign currency, the current rate is locked at the time of creation.

Currency Gain/Loss

When you receive payment for a foreign currency invoice, the exchange rate may have changed. dynamik.app automatically calculates:

  • Realised gains/losses \u2014 When payment is received at a different rate
  • Unrealised gains/losses \u2014 For outstanding invoices at period end

These are posted to your Currency Gain/Loss account automatically.

Supported Documents

Multi-currency is supported on:

  • Invoices
  • Estimates
  • Bills
  • Expenses
  • Purchase Orders
  • Payments

Reporting

All reports convert foreign currency amounts to your base currency using the transaction date rate. Period comparison reports use consistent rates.
